This week I have had several conversations revolving around leadership and what we can do to improve our effectiveness. The first thing we can all do is recognize that leadership is not easy. At times it can be painful to do the right thing but that is exactly what we should all be striving for.

We all must recognize that at times we can feel powerless, no matter what title we hold in an organization. It is at these exact times that one must truthfully assess the situation, layout an action plan and then review performance. I call this SAR.

If you ignore and simply complain about the problem without proposing a solution, then in the words of Teddy Roosevelt, you are simply whining and a long way from being a thought leader.
