Thought of the Week- Don’t Jump

How often do we need to seen people rush to judgement, oftentimes in less than a second, and condemn a person or firm? I’d say almost daily and on social media maybe by the nanosecond.

My thought of the week is don’t jump at everything. Instead pause, get the facts, think about the situation, weigh the appropriate options to react and only then take action. We have to train ourselves to not rush to judgement and being in perpetual “jump mode”. We all say that that smart and productive people evolve by learning from the past. How can you achieve this if you become prosecutor, judge and jury and do so in the blink of an eye?

Take stock of how you can calm down your own rush to judgment trigger? Doing so will pay big dividends.

Thought of the Week- Flawed

While it pains us to believe it, it is true, we are all flawed. The self righteous and haters out there would be good to remember that because unless sainthood is on your future and then if it that is; you will lake mistakes, crash and burn, let yourself and others down and not live up to your own expectations at some point.

So the thought of the week is what do you do after you realize that you are in fact flawed? You can choose to hide in shame or acxept that you have screwed up and work out your own get unflawed plan.

I suggest that you choose the later and as long as we learn from our setbacks and move forward being the best version of yourself you can be.

Thought of the Week- Just Getting Started!

Conventional wisdom has it that we humans have reached our peak or so says a group of British philosophers. This statement reminds me of the time the USA Patent Office In ~1905 was going to shut down; the reason stated we have created everything possible.

My thought of the week is humankind is just getting started. If you look at life on earth being a three hour tape, humans have been around about a second. Just imagine what we can achieve after being here a minute? I predict our best is yet to come.

In business we must push to evolve and push the barriers and spend appropriate time imagining a better future and then going for it. Make sure that you are doing your part and our best is yet to come.

Thought of the Week- Play the Long Game.

What is seen as failure today may become little more than an impediment on a longer road.

It is vital that we look at our successes and setbacks through the appropriate lens. Learn from both and you will be a better person and leader.

Do this and your future will be bright. Shine on.

Thought of the Week – Grit Matters

This week I read an article that stated that grit matters more than previously thought. I can tell you that grit is central to ongoing success. As the saying goes; you get knocked down seven times, you get up eight times. That’s grit at work.

My thought of the week is the in today’s fragile age is that the one with the deepest grit reserves will come through while others who are equally intelligent but lacking grit will fail. Take a moment and figure out how you can develop your grit prowess. It will serve you well.

Thought of the Week- Sleepwalking

How many times in your career have you found yourself sleepwalking on the job? It could also be termed as being on auto pilot, phoning it in, giving the old college try or simply just getting on to get on.   Sleepwalking takes the passion out of what you do.  Passion and focus is what enhances our results.

However, you want to phrase it, sleepwalking at work is not only dangerous for your career but could possibly be a detriment to your everyday life.  If you sleepwalk at work you are likely to allow this mentality to spill over into your personal life, compounding the problem.

My thought of the week is to eliminate sleepwalking. To do this you need purpose and see the things you do as important. Take a moment and reflect if you are operating with full awareness and that your auto pilot is disengaged?  Review your goals.  Make sure you have them, track them and update them periodically. Assess your workload and make sure that you are allocating time to making the important things happen. Do not allow yourself to become overwhelmed in the small stuff. Don’t let sleepwalking flourish. Take control and banish sleepwalking. Your team and company will appreciate you for it.

Thought of the Week- Mouthbreathers Should Be Set Free

There are simply too many mouth breathers and too much negativity, anger, jealously and outright hatred in the world.

My thought of the week is that we need to set the mouth breathers free. Take a moment and review how you represent yourself? Are you positive, upbeat and encouraging in your daily interactions? And just as important if you have nothing positive to say, do you do just that.
